How to Apply and Remove a Blackhead Mask so You Don't Irritate Your Skin

Blackheads aren't just annoying and uncomfortable. They can be difficult to get rid of, but that doesn't mean you're stuck with them forever.  Our grace & stella blackhead masks can pull those pesky spots out of your skin, but be careful! If you don't follow the tips in this guide, you might accidentally end up irritating your skin.  Here's how to apply and remove our blackhead removal mask properly.

Prep Your Face

Start by tying your hair back (or at least putting on a headband to keep your hair away from your face). If your hair gets into the mask, it will stick. Pulling it back out can be difficult and painful.  After this, wash your hands with warm water and soap. This will remove any dirt or bacteria from your fingers so you aren't accidentally transferring it to your face.  Finally, wash your face to get rid of any excess oil or debris and to open up your pores. (Exfoliating your skin can also help open your pores).

Apply the Blackhead Mask

Starting at the top of your face, apply a thin layer of the liquid blackhead removal mask over your skin. You can use your fingers for this step, but we recommend using one of our facial mask applicator brushes because they will give you a more even spread (and keep your hands clean!).  Keep the layer thin so it doesn't drip down your face. However, make sure you can't see through the mask. If you can, you need to add more.  Avoid getting the mask in your eyes, on your eyebrows, or on your lips. If you get anything on these areas, wipe it off right away.

Let It Sit

Let the mask sit on your face for about 15 minutes. This will give it time to dry so you can peel it off in one piece. Your skin might start to feel a bit stiff as it dries, but this is normal.  Not sure what to do while you wait? This is the perfect time to take a quick dip in the tub with one of our bath bombs!

Remove the Mask (Carefully)

Once the mask is completely dry, peel it away from your face slowly and carefully by starting at the bottom edges. It should peel off easily, and you should be able to see all the blackheads it removed from your skin!  If you have any specs left behind, rinse off your face with warm water. Then finish the process by applying your favorite toner.
